Neptune Beach is a quiet coastal community located on the northeast coast of Florida between Atlantic Beach and Jacksonville Beach. The city is approximately 2.5 square miles, and has 7,500 residents. The casual atmosphere, beautiful beaches, world-class restaurants, boutiques and oceanfront hotels make it a popular destination for people of all ages. The name “Neptune Beach” came to be in 1922 when resident, Dan Wheeler, built his own train station and named it Neptune. Dan was tired of having to walk home from Mayport (the closest train station at the time) each evening after work. A friend of Dan’s who worked for the railroad told him that if he built a station, the train would have to stop for him, so he did just that.
Home values in the area have gone up 8.2% over the past year and Zillow’s Value Estimator predicts they will rise 7.7% within the next year. According to Realtor.com, there are 44 homes for sale, ranging from $230K to $2.5M.
